Paula Kuehl is a McHenry County, Illinois artist who works in the pastel medium. She enjoys painting landscapes, children and flowers.

Paula has been painting since 1981 when she started taking lessons at the Studio in the Woods in Wauconda, Illinois, where she studied with Bonnie Anderson for 11 years. She has also studied portrait painting with Harley Brown and life drawing with William Whittaker at the Scottsdale Artists School; Scottsdale, Arizona. She has taken classes from Gerald Merfeld, Virginia Rodecker, Thomas Trausch, David Hettinger, Jim Pollard, Ted Goerschner, Joe Abbresicia, Vern Stake, John Naylor and Scott Burdick.

So far in 2008, her work has been accepted in Regional Survey IV, Juried Exhibition, The Next Picture Show, Dixon, IL; the 4th annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition, Old Forge, NY.

In 2007, her work was accepted in the Northeast Pastel Exhibition, Old Forge, NY; Southeast Pastel Society’s 2007 Members Juried Exhibition, Stone Mountain, GA; “Pastels Chicago,” 1st National Biennial Show, Chicago, IL; the Northwest Pastel Society 2007 Juried Members Show, Anacortes, WA; the Degas Pastel Society’s 15th Membership Juried Exhibition (where she received an award of merit), New Orleans, LA; Winter Solstice, The Next Picture Show, Dixon, IL (where she received an Honorable Mention) and Art Centre 2007, Elk Grove Village, IL.

During 2006, her work was accepted in the Northwest Pastel Society Special Members Exhibit in Seattle, WA.; Illiana Artists 10th Regional Juried Exhibition, Munster, IN.; Creative Catalyst, East Dundee, IL.; Farms And Barns Exhibition, Dixon IL.; The World Of Art Juried Art Exhibit, Mableton, GA.; Northwest Pastel Society 2006 Members' Exhibit, Ellensburg, WA.; Lone Star Pastel Society 2006 National Show, Amarillo, TX.; Art Centre 2006 Exhibit and Sale, Elk Grove Village, IL.; and the Pastel Society Of Oregon 15th Biennial National Exhibition, Roseburg, OR.

Her work has won many awards over the years. Some of which are: Best of Show at the Cary Art Fair; an Award of Excellence at Art Centre 2001, Elk Grove Village; President’s Award at the Northwest Pastel Society’s Members Show; Third Place at the Open Door to Autumn Art, Door County, Wisconsin; the Juror’s Choice Award at Winter Thaw 2003, Decatur, Illinois; the Juror’s Choice Award, The World of Art, Mableton, GA; Award of Merit at the Degas Pastel Society’s 15th Membership Exhibition and an Honorable Mention at the Winter Solstice Exhibition in Dixon, IL.

Her work is included in private and corporate collections.
